ASI-IAD Launches Region-Wide Chain Prayer Initiative for Haiti

Inter-America – March 2024

In response to the ongoing crisis in Haiti, the Adventist Laymen’s Services and Industries (ASI) Inter-American Division has launched an extensive region-wide chain prayer initiative, calling on members across the division to unite in continuous intercession for the Haitian people.

The initiative, which began in February 2024, engages every ASI chapter across the Inter-American Division in a coordinated weekly cycle of prayer. Each country is assigned a dedicated week during which local ASI members are encouraged to lead and participate in focused prayer activities for Haiti—culminating in a continuous wave of spiritual support throughout the region.

The prayer initiative was born out of the urgent need to respond to the worsening humanitarian, social, and economic conditions in Haiti. With increasing violence, displacement, and institutional disruptions—including the closure of the Adventist University—ASI-IAD has mobilized its vast network to offer what it believes is the most powerful response: united, consistent, and earnest prayer.

“This is more than a schedule—it’s a spiritual movement,” said an ASI-IAD spokesperson. “We are committed to standing in the gap for our brothers and sisters in Haiti. Through prayer, we are not only lifting the nation to God but also strengthening our unity and mission as a region.”

The program began with the ASI-IAD Board’s week of prayer from February 4–10, and continues with a structured calendar that assigns specific weeks to countries from Antigua and Barbuda to Guatemala, running through August 2024. Each chapter is asked to host in-person and virtual prayer services, partner with local churches, and encourage family and individual prayer sessions throughout their assigned week.

Highlights of the Prayer Calendar:

  • February: ASI IAD Board, Antigua and Barbuda, Bahamas

  • March: Barbados, Belize, Cayman Islands, Costa Rica

  • April: Dominican Republic, French Guiana, Grenada, Guadeloupe, Guyana

  • May: Haiti, Honduras, Jamaica, Martinique

  • June: Mexico, Panama, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines

  • July: Suriname, Tobago, Trinidad

  • August: Venezuela, Puerto Rico, Guatemala

Members are encouraged to participate through their local ASI chapters and follow the official prayer schedule. Updates, prayer guides, and resources are available through the ASI-IAD website to help local teams lead meaningful and impactful sessions.

The prayer chain initiative follows several other ASI-led efforts to support Haiti, including the “Save Haiti Through Prayer” 24-hour session and the Haiti Relief Project, which provides financial assistance to displaced families through a secure digital platform.

By mobilizing the entire region in sustained prayer, ASI-IAD aims to create not only spiritual support but also awareness, unity, and renewed commitment to mission during a time of deep need.
