Second Workshop Emphasizes Cultural Intelligence in Evangelistic Work

Miami, Florida – April 11, 2024
The Adventist Laymen’s Services and Industries (ASI), in collaboration with the Inter-American Division (IAD) Evangelism Impact 2024 initiative, hosted its second evangelism training workshop under the theme “Principles in Cross-Cultural Evangelism.” The session was held virtually and featured Pastor Dr. Andy Manzano, a seasoned lecturer from the University of the Southern Caribbean (USC).

The event drew participants from across the IAD territory, many of whom are actively involved in lay and pastoral ministry. The interactive workshop explored foundational principles necessary for effective evangelism in diverse cultural contexts—an increasingly vital competency in the global mission of the church.

Dr. Manzano’s presentation was both scholarly and practical, addressing how cultural awareness, adaptability, and empathy are essential in bridging gaps and effectively communicating the gospel across various ethnic, social, and linguistic backgrounds. He emphasized that successful evangelists must not only proclaim truth but also understand the worldviews of their audiences.

Participants expressed appreciation for the relevance and depth of the presentation, noting that the session provided both theological insight and actionable strategies for reaching people in multicultural settings.

This workshop forms part of ASI/IAD’s broader strategy to equip a new generation of lay evangelists for impactful ministry throughout the Inter-American Division. The Evangelism Training Series continues to build momentum following its successful launch in March and remains a critical component of the Impact 2024 Evangelism Initiative.

Organizers reaffirmed their commitment to nurturing spiritually grounded, culturally competent evangelists who can lead and support the mission of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in diverse communities.

The next session in the series is expected to continue building on these themes, with continued strong interest from members and ministry leaders across the division.
